Just this week I have met two moms whose children were recently diagnosed and they didn't know any other parents who have kids on the spectrum. I think it's important that we all come together as a community. While the kids play together, parents are able to talk and share information, resources, advice and support. You are not alone and neither is your child! Come and join us!

I would like to find parents that are going through the same. I think shared experiences are helpful. I would also LOVE to have a playgroup for my child to participate in with other children and parents that can understand our world. We are looking forward to exploring this new world with other parents and their children.

"This group is started by a mother with a son 16 years of age on the autism spectrum. The groups goal is to create friendships and companionships with individuals with special needs. It is hard enough for teens and young adults to make new friends with the pressures of teen hood so having a disability makes it almost impossible. Please consider joining us, the group will meet once a week with location and time varying.

Greetings- This is a group primarily to provide opportunities for ASD-PDD kids (and their parents/ caregivers) to interact with peers. My observations and experience is that there are plenty of groups on LI for people to talk about things. This will be a forum for kids to hopefully interact with other kids, and parents/ caregivers can align to create play groups, support networks, idea/ method exchange, etc. The idea for this group came about as I have a 7 y.o. ASD-PDD grandson who lost his Dad, …

I started this group to provide a place where NT partners/spouses could meet and support each other. The meetings are not intended to be therapy sessions, but more along the lines of supporting each other since many of our friends and family members do not understand our unique relationships with our Aspie spouses/partners. Some of the meet-ups will have particular topics to discuss, some will be fun events to play and afford us a stress-free time and others will be informal with discussions bei …

I am a speech-language pathologist currently working in a private special needs school in New York City. My experience has taught me that the greatest hope we have in helping children and teens with special needs is working together - parents, educators, therapists, siblings, doctors, etc. Though we are all in this together, many often feel isolated. Many do not have enough information on how to navigate the day-to-day as well as the future ahead. Many feel overwhelmed with too much information. …
