This group is for families with teenagers whom are impacted by Developmental Disabilities including but not limited to Autism. There is a need for a place for families to network together on the Westside (Portland, Beaverton, Aloha, Tigard, Tualitin, Hillsboro, and other surrounding areas). Let's share tips--especially in the areas of hard to find activities and before/after school care for those of us who have kids whom cannot be left alone, yet cannot afford to pay $10-$20 an hour for care! I decided to start this group so my daughter and other kids and teens on the spectrum would have a friendly environment to create friendships through activities and games. This group is open to kids and teens on the spectrum, including High Functioning Autism, Aspergers, PDDNOS, NVLD and ADHD ages 5 to 18. Siblings are welcome to participate and a parent is required to attend. Parents are necessary to help our kids as needed to have a fun time and encourage them. On a personal note, my daughter …
I have started this group for adults and young adults on the Autistic spectrum who are interested in video games and tabletop games (D&D, Magic, Catan, etc.) to get together. There are other groups in the metro area for people on the spectrum to socialize, but this group will focus on gaming. If you have autism, asperger's or any other related condition, and you are looking to meet other gamers on the spectrum, then this group is for you.

… we discuss books on the subject of Asperger Syndrome, particularly those geared toward relationships with adults on the Autism Spectrum. Periodically a good film such as "Mozart and the Whale" creates a forum for an important discussion about life as a carer of an ASD adult. Occassionally an expert in the field is invited to the group to create a counterpoint to our personal experience. For now I am reaching out to see how many of you Neuro-typicals are going to join me in this first of a kind g …

We are women who have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD or ADD) and who are interested in learning strategies, skills, and processes which can enhance our lives. We seek companionship, support, resources, recommendations and the kind of understanding that comes from being with those who "get it" from the inside out. Women who have ADHD, especially those of us who are diagnosed in our 30's, 40's, 50's and later, have many years experience of struggling to "pass" for normal, o …

… We also have many in this group that them or their families are recovering from health problems such as cancer, diabetes, autism and more.
This group was created for special needs children aged 6 and under, developmentally delayed and their parents and siblings, to play together and socialize. The idea is that so many of our children need extra work and attention. Meeting other parents of special needs children can be great because they understand each other, and can help each other in many ways. I imagine we all have a lot in common. Children with special needs are especially in need of social skills. Why not develop them together …
