This is a play\support group for mothers who have children with autism. Because children on the autism spectrum can have difficulty finding and maintaining friendships, they might enjoy meeting children with the same limitations, especially as they grow older. They can form bonds with children who also wish to be understood by others. While the children play, moms are encouraged to talk and glean knowledge from each other. This group began for kids ages 12 and under who love to play with Legos and Bionicles. As our group is expanding, it is beginning to incorporate teens as well.  Of course, the biggest kids of all - the dads - have always been an integral part of our play time. We get together three times a month to build, discuss, and play. Special projects involve cooperative play and work on social skills. Group members under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent.

As the mom of a 7 year old with cerebral palsy, I've had a difficult time finding others moms in Dallas who share my unique situation, issues and concerns. This meetup group is intended to be a place for parents of children with any type of special need or disability to share resources, brag about milestones, and sometimes just vent. My vision for the group includes Moms Nights Out, an active message board, and family play dates and outings.

… Our Club recently sponsored a successful toy drive benefiting the Autism Treatment Center and our second annual blood drive benefiting Carter Blood Care. We also hosted several social events including a wine tasting at Tony's Wine Warehouse, an evening at the Dallas Opera and a picnic to enjoy an outdoor concert at the Dallas Arboretum.
