Autistic Self Advocacy Network, DFW is a chapter of the international non-profit organization run by and for Autistic people. ASAN seeks to improve the representation of the Autistic community in public policy discussions as well as advance the Neurodiversity movement. This is a play\support group for parents who have children with autism spectrum disorders. Because children on the autism spectrum can have difficulty making and maintaining friendships, they might enjoy meeting children with the same challenges, especially as they grow older. As the mom of a 7 year old with cerebral palsy, I've had a difficult time finding others moms in Dallas who share my unique situation, issues and concerns. This meetup group is intended to be a place for parents of children with any type of special need or disability to share resources, brag about milestones, and sometimes just vent. My vision for the group includes Moms Nights Out, an active message board, and family play dates and outings.
