This group is for children ages 5 to 14 who love to play with Legos and Bionicles as well as Nintendo DS games. Originally, it was just for playing with Legos and making new friends. As our original members have grown older and become interested in video games, I decided to incorporate that into our group as well. Of course, the biggest kids of all - the parents - have always been an integral part of our play time. We get together three times a month to build, discuss, play and interact. Specia …

This is a play\support group for mothers who have children with autism. Because children on the autism spectrum can have difficulty finding and maintaining friendships, they might enjoy meeting children with the same limitations, especially as they grow older. They can form bonds with children who also wish to be understood by others. While the children play, moms are encouraged to talk and glean knowledge from each other. We do not judge each other, but offer each other support, advice and f …

As a group, we will lovingly focus on assisting individuals in understanding those who/that don't have an human voice. Using pictures and prepared questions as a group we will 'tune in' to one individual at a time to get answers using our intuition. The following is a short list of examples: Domestic and wild animals Pre-birth babies Infants Special needs children Autistic children …

As the mom of a 7 year old with cerebral palsy, I've had a difficult time finding others moms in Dallas who share my unique situation, issues and concerns. This meetup group is intended to be a place for parents of children with any type of special need or disability to share resources, brag about milestones, and sometimes just vent. My vision for the group includes Moms Nights Out, an active message board, and family play dates and outings.
I am a busy professional mom of a recently diagnosed nine year old son with Asperger Syndrome. He loves playing with other kids but has a difficult time making close friends because of some of the Aspergers social traits I'm sure we all know too well. Hopefully through this group we can get to know some other Aspie parents and kids in the area. All are welcome! We will: Have frequent playdates for the kids so they can make new friends and practice their social skills Have larger kid events su …

This is a group for all parents who have struggled with education and their child. If it is in accelerated programs or just extra support, we are a group of involved parents and educators looking to give our children the best educational opportunity. I have raised two children one with Aspergers and one with Dyslexia. I have learned a few things along the way that I would like to share. This group will have speakers from around the community to speak about education, addhd, testing, social skill …

Let's get together for support and information. Let's share what has worked for us and what resources we have available for each other. I hope this will be a group that can meet on a variety of topics to get some real answers and real support. I love to research and find contacts. I am willing to share everything that I have learned with regards to raising gifted children and children on the spectrum. We are a casual and happy group. I believe I have been blessed by my children.
This group is for families with advanced learner (gifted) children who live or attend school or home schooled in the North Texas School System. The mission of the group is to support the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers by educating parents on how best to address the special needs of their children. I am hoping to create fun activities for our kids as well as providing parent based meetups. Our message board contains discussions about parenting gifted kids, enrichment opportunit …

This group is for girls only, ages 8 to 13, with Asperger's Syndrome. Making genuine friends can be difficult at school, especially if all the "typical" kids just don't understand your child. Parents and their Aspie daughters will get together to meet, learn about each others interests, and work on friendship and social skills.
North Texas Parents of Special Needs Children is a group for parents to come together for support and friendship. If there is anything you'd like to share please do! We will also have events and meetups for parents and also our children. Thanks for checking out the group!
